They are going to come to you mainly via your sign outside, so instead of sending out 10,000 post cards to your neighborhood residents, spend that money on a premium location, visible sign and branding your image. So you want to get into the coffee shop business? Maybe the thought of a coffee shop start up is not amusing you. Sure you know you are going to work hard whether it is in starting a coffee shop or working in and/or managing one that you are going to buy. But which one do you choose to do?

Many people have asked me if buying an existing shop is a good idea. The reason for this phenomenon is that we become emotionally attached to our stores. That is not a bad thing, as it normally keeps us in check.

However, most owners put the store up for sale and even end up selling when they NEED to and their back is up against the wall. What Do You Expect From Your Coffee Shop?

You can walk down any high street and almost every tenth shop is some sort of eating place or coffee shop. They spring up here there and everywhere, don’t they?

And the good ones are always busy.

So, when was the last time you visited a high street coffee shop?
