New York, NY, United States (Celebrity News Service) – After stirring a controversy with his anti-gay tirade, Tracy Morgan now says he supports gay marriage and realizes how hurtful his words were.
According to a conversation obtained by Globalgrind.com, Morgan made this clear in a conversation with long-time friend Russell Simmons who reached out to Morgan following the tirade.
I believe everyone deserves the right to be happy and marry who they want too; gay, white, black, male or female. Let me know where the rally’s at Russ. I’m there,” Morgan said during the conversation.
“When all of this set in, I realized how hurtful my words were. Not asking anyone to feel sorry for me or pity me, but I definitely don’t want or need people to defend me. In my heart, I know that the words I used are indefensible,” he added.
Morgan came under fire last week when during a comedy show Morgan went on a tirade which included Morgan saying he would stab his own son if he were gay.
“The truth is if I had a gay son, I would love him just as much as if he was straight … I might have to try to love even more because I know of the difficulty that he would have in society,” Morgan admitted when Simmons discussed his disappointment with Morgan’s words.
Morgan’s first big break was on Russell Simmons presents Def Comedy Jam.
Morgan is best known for his time as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and his current role on the NBC series 30 Rock.
