Everyone wants to make a bit of extra cash and it is possible to do this by buying and selling used cars, especially if you can do some of the work on them yourself. What kind of work? You may need to be able to change tyres ‘ and it would be great if you could also do other minor repairs such as replacing broken or worn external parts, or even small engine parts. It is legal to buy and sell just a few vehicles per year, but for any more than that you will need to buy a license. Doing your own work will mean that you can sell at a better price and so be assured of a quick turn-around. Of course, it is possible to buy and sell used cars without doing any work on them. To do this you need to buy those that are not in need of much or any work, so you can simply tidy them up and resell at a small profit. Very often a good wash and polish and some new seat covers will be all that is needed to make the car look more attractive. When you buy used cars to sell, don’t buy from your own area, especially if they are cars for sale on the roadside. Anyone interested in buying a car will have seen it already. When they see the same car for sale in another location they will assume you are reselling it because there is something wrong with it. Be careful with your pricing if you want to make a profit. You have to allow for any other costs such as repair work, registration, insurance and the cost of changing over owners.
