First, this book was targeted toward folks in the UK who are looking to open a coffee shop/sandwich shop. However, I still found that much of the advice was generally applicable. I think that there is a lot of common sense advice (i.e. do your research, plan before you open a business), but it is still sound advice nonetheless.
There is quite a bit of the book that is unusable for an American reader. The sections on legal issues, health regulations, employee issues, suppliers, etc., aren’t applicable in the US. It just isn’t as useful as a book written for an American audience would have been.
