Two copy editors join The News-Review

Two copy editors, whose duties include designing pages and writing headlines, recently joined The News-Review staff. Wyatt Haupt Jr. comes to Oregon from Colorado, where he was copy editor and staff writer for Colorado Mountain News Media, a division of Swift Communications, the parent company of The News-Review. Haupt was based at the Grand Junction Free Press and The Aspen Times. Julie K. Byrd-Jenkins graduated from Western Kentucky University in the spring of 2009. She earned a bachelor’s degree in photojournalism and Spanish and graduated cum laude. Haupt’s responsibilities will include being web editor for The News-Review’s website, nrtoday.com. He hails from Hollywood, served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years and has worked for newspapers for 15 years. Before joining the staff of the Free Press, Haupt was the business page editor and reporter for a competing paper in Grand Junction, the Daily Sentinel.
